Research segment of the website will provide generic research on IPO performance in Bangladesh, effectiveness of portfolio management strategies with respect to Bangladesh capital market, macro-economic scenario of Bangladesh, dynamics of Bangladesh capital market. In the IPO segment, key researches will be uploaded with a view to calculating the average level of underpricing in the IPOs, evaluating the long-term performance of the IPO, to assess the level of flipping. In the portfolio management segment, key researches will be uploaded with a view to assessing the effectiveness of technical analysis, assessing the effectiveness of autocorrelation and momentum driven strategies and understanding whether calendar-based strategies would be successful for our capital market or not. In the macro-economic segment, key researches will be uploaded with a view to understanding how macro-economy and investment eco-system is linked and understanding how key macro-economic predictions are related with valuation variables. In the financial market eco-system segment, key researches will be uploaded with a view to understanding how changing rules and regulation can influence the eco-system of financial market and evaluating how improved financial products and solutions can affect the eco-system of financial market.

This website will enable the issue managers to price IPOs in a better manner (generally they are used to leave ‘too much’ for the secondary investors). Issue managers will certainly understand the extent to which after-IPO price stabilization initiative needs to be undertaken. Long-term IPO performance is a key policy impetus for investors, regulators and issue managers. In an underdeveloped market like ours, there are number of grey zones where traditional finance theories often do not work and these gaps are generally capitalized for arbitrage and abnormal profit. So, portfolio management strategy based research will be pivotal for portfolio managers and retail-level investors. Macro-economic indicators like inflation rate, customer confidence level, aggregate import level and foreign exchange rate dynamisms will be tracked and evaluated after each six months. A regular research conducted over the dynamics of macro-economy will help the market participants understanding the changes in the capital market eco-system. Every new rules and amendments regarding the financial industry change the rule of game for all the market participations; so it is important for market participants to understand the direct and implicit impact of these new rules and regulations. Our financial system is yet to embrace derivative products and other alternative investment vehicles. But we need to get our knowledge-based arsenals ready for the coming days.
